ABOUT:
Mathew Wells was born in 2005 on the Isle of Wight. He developed an early passion for photography after receiving a camera at the age of eight. Over the past decade, he has refined a distinctive visual style, producing dynamic and expressive imagery.
Mathew photographs a range of subjects; including sports, street, and motorsport. He is especially passionate about sports photography, with a particular focus on the many disciplines of cycling. Along side this, his enthusiasm for motorsport has taken him to events such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Shelsley Walsh Hillclimb, and Rallycross at Lydden Hill. Beyond action based events, Mathew also embraces the challenge of street photography, producing a striking body of work, much of which is showcased on this website.
He has worked extensively across the Isle of Wight, covering sports events for the Isle of Wight County Press and photographing major sailing events, including on-shore coverage of the Round the Island Race and Cowes Week. One of his notable achievements is having his cycling images published in Cycling Weekly magazine.
